 SPEAKING FOR THE

TERRIFIED

Unsure of doing a presentation at work?   Scared of having to make a speech at a wedding? Maybe you have been elected President of the Bowling Club or Golf Club and will have to chair meetings

All of the above scenarios require help and the opportunity to practise.

Where can you get that opportunity?

Come along to Penicuik Speakers Club where you will have the opportunity to learn these skills and to practise them in a safe, friendly and helpful environment. We will help you to harness and control the nerves and butterflies. We won’t get rid of the butterflies but we can help to get them flying in formation.

A typical meeting consists of

A short business session to deal with club business

A ‘Topics Session’ – Practising how to speak on almost anything ‘off the cuff’

A break for tea or coffee and a chat

Two prepared speeches (Usually with about 2 week’s preparation time)

Each speech is evaluated to help the speaker and everyone else to improve

The whole evening is then evaluated by the General Evaluator

Penicuik Speakers Club meets in Beeslack High School on 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month starting at 7.15 for 7.30 pm. We are currently on our Summer Break, meetings will resume in September 2008.
